The Shadow Salon With Author Dr. Melissa Kim Corter

Not just something you’ll learn—something you’ll feel.

Quick Details

Salons emerged in 17th-century France as intimate gatherings hosted in private spaces, sometimes someone’s home. Writers, artists, philosophers, scientists, and scholars shared ideas. Salons were often led by influential women known as salonnières, these gatherings became cultural incubators, shaping literature, politics, philosophy, and the intellectual movements of the Enlightenment.

The Shadow Salon is an experiential and conversational gathering, a contained ritual space for rich, unique, and deep exploration.

During our salon, Dr. Melissa Kim Corter will share select dark fairy tale for the evening’s exploration, read a few excerpts from her book Apothecary for the Afflicted Shadow Work for Invisible Wounds and share a potent group shadow work practice.

Who Is This For?

The Shadow Salon is for those who feel drawn toward depth and are curious about Jungian Shadow Work.

If you love unusual stories, wandering in cemeteries, getting lost in fairy tales or myths, reflecting on dreams, unpacking symbols, and discovering the patterns and connections between things…. This is the space for you.

It is for the curious, the contemplative, the creative, the wise, and the weird.

What Happens During the Shadow Salon?

Each gathering is unique, but may include:

  • Mythological or fairytale exploration
  • Symbolic and archetypal reflection
  • Guided inquiry
  • Shadow work exercises
  • Open discussion and questions

Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook/journal AND one item to place on our ‘death altar’. Not to worry, you get to keep it and bring it back home with you. A stone, small crystal, or talisman that feels important… you don’t need to know why.

You are welcome to share and reflect, or simply listen in and soak in the magical and contemplative atmosphere.

Guests will take home a signed copy of Melissa’s book Apothecary for the Afflicted: Shadow Work for Invisible Wounds which is included in the price of this session.

Space is very limited.

Meet Dr. Melissa Kim Corter – International Bestselling Author
Psychologist & Speaker

As a highly empathic, intuitive child, Melissa Kim Corter was fascinated with other people’s basements. Dark, unexplored spaces enthralled her, and her insatiable curiosity toward the hidden dimensions of the mind led to decades of exploring the shadow dynamics within the human psyche and in nature.

Her work sometimes makes people uncomfortable. It asks us to explore the hidden, unknown dimensions of self and to tend to it. Melissa uses creative and symbolic forms such as film, fairy tales, and dreams to reveal psychological patterns and hidden potentials. Melissa has her Masters in Depth Psychology with an emphasis on Jungian archetypal studies and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
